Control piping solutions for challenging environments--the advantages of N08825 alloy coils in high temperature, high pressure and corrosive media

In modern oil and gas production, downhole operations and industrial control systems, the requirements for transportation pipes are constantly increasing. Not only should they be corrosion-resistant, high-strength and pressure-bearing, but they should also be easy to install and reduce subsequent maintenance costs. This is why Coiled Tubing is widely favored.

Coiled tubing is a continuous metal pipe that can be wound into a large roll. Unlike traditional short-section straight pipes, it can be laid without interruption, avoiding the risk of leakage at the weld joints. Its flexible structure allows it to be easily laid in small spaces or complex routes, and is widely used in oil and gas well control, chemical injection, instrumentation systems, automation control and other fields.

Coiled tubing manufacturing materials are crucial. Nickel-based alloy coils, represented by Alloy 825 (UNS N08825), are designed for extreme environments. It is a nickel-iron-chromium alloy containing molybdenum and copper. It can withstand challenges such as chloride ion corrosion, acidic gas, high temperature and high pressure. It is particularly suitable for acid wells, highly corrosive oil fields, offshore platforms and chemical reaction systems.

Siri Tubing, a subsidiary of MTSCO, has long focused on the research and development and production of welded coils, capillaries, control lines and multi-core tubes. With the production capacity of international standards such as ASTM, EN, and DIN, it has provided key material support for many large projects in recent years. The recently delivered ASTM B704 standard welded coils are made of N08825 alloy with specifications of 12.7×1.65mm and a single coil length of 4,200 meters. The stability and consistency have been unanimously recognized by customers.

The welded coil products of the Stream Factory can be up to 33,000 feet long, support a variety of plastic coating options, and are suitable for extreme applications such as underground, subsea, and chemical corrosion. All raw materials come from internationally renowned steel mills such as POSCO, Outokumpu, and TSINGSHAN, and double material verification (PMI testing and MTC audit) is carried out to ensure that the raw materials are accurate and reliable.

From welding, cold drawing, annealing to plastic sealing, the entire process line is controlled by senior engineering and technical personnel. Each coil is subjected to 100% water pressure testing (conventional 40MPa, maximum 100MPa), and UT, ET, HT and other flaw detection tests are carried out. It can be certified by third-party testing agencies such as SGS, TUV, and BV to fully guarantee quality and safety.

In the future, MTSCO will continue to rely on the technical strength and quality system of the stream factory to provide more professional and reliable coil solutions for global oil and gas and high-end control system customers.
